Opportunities in Youth Entrepreneurship during COVID-19

South Florida is known as a primary location for small businesses, one of the largest drivers of Florida’s economy. That said, how are we collectively preparing our youth to think and act like entrepreneurs? Join this conversation about creating, growing and supporting young people during COVID-19 to become entrepreneurs and change agents in their communities.

 John Martínez is the Executive Director of Centro Campesino, Inc. and has over 25 years of experience working with community-based and community development corporations. His formal education includes a B.A. graduating summa cum laude with High Honors in Political Science from the University of New Mexico, a Master of Science degree from Louisiana State University, and the Conexiones International Honors program in Mexico. He is the vice-chair of MAFO – a National Partnership of Farmworker Organizations and Rural Communities, a member of the JP Morgan Chase South Florida Community Development Advisory Board, the National Society of Leadership and Success, the Hurricane Irma Long Term Recovery Groups in Miami Dade and Monroe (Florida Keys) Counties, a former member of the Affiliate Council of UnidosUS, and a Senior Fellow on Mexico for the U.S Mexico Solidarity Foundation. jmartinez@ccfcfl.org

 What began in Juan Pablo Casimiro’s startup career in 1987 laid the groundwork for educational empowerment for youth and adults around the world. He has always been driven by impact, passion, purpose and dedication to service and making sure youth are living to their full potential. Along with his many responsibilities Casimiro serves as Chairman/Founder of the Casimiro Global Foundation, in international youth development organization that provides internships and helps create social entrepreneurs in marginalized com munities.
